18th DRESDEN POLYMER DISCUSSION

From particulate building blocks to functional soft matter assemblies

May 21 - 24, 2023
Meissen

This meeting aims to discuss the state-of-the-art and future prospects in functional systems that derive from the assembly of small (nano- and micro-sized) particulate entities. New phenomena and functionalities may emerge from the suitable combination of particulate building units into more complex, hierarchical soft matter assemblies, which can go far beyond individual particle properties. Recent advances in synthesis, self-assembly, and additive manufacturing techniques have had a tremendous impact in this regard. These strategies enable the fabrication of scalable, adaptive, and functional soft matter systems with tailored optical and electronic properties, to only name a few.

This meeting aims to discuss the current developments in particle-based soft matter in a forum. Thus, we plan the following topics/sessions for this purpose:

  • Synthesis of colloidal particles
  • Multiscale assembly
  • Optical and electronic properties
  • Adaptive and functional materials
